The grind is real. Swapping between messaging apps, social media apps, team meetings and Twitter Spaces.Fueled by coffee, affirmations, and Cannabis. I’m sure I don’t just echo my own daily experience here if you’re even slightly integrated with the Web3 space. Wondering to myself how many others shared that last common factor, how far had the stigma really come in an international space? How can we create a sustainable Cannabis/Web3 community while a large portion of the space would be locked away or killed in their Country of Residence for even a gram.
The first question of how many in the space actually indulge, is a difficult data set to accurately gauge. However as this is a “casual look”, a casual twitter poll should be adequate. In a 24 hour Twitter Poll asking “Are you in Web3 and smoke THC, CBD, or neither?”, 64% of participants voted that they smoked THC. Another 7% voted yes to smoking CBD, and 29% said neither. Now this is a casual Twitter Poll with only 55 participants and vague options, so take it with a giant grain of salt. However generally it does show us that there’s a good chance in a given Web3 Twitter Space where a lot of us spend our time, the majority in the room may smoke some type of Cannabis.

As far as the stigma goes, existing Web3 communities seem to uphold the decentralized accepting vibes I was promised upon entering the space over a year ago. Gatekeeping a whole community from a whole other community just doesn’t make logical sense, especially when the Cannabis community has been through the same type of journey Web3 has. From being downplayed and even vilified by the government to grassroot community initiatives. Even if the ideals or goals don’t match your own, it’s introducing an existing Web2 sector to Web3. Showcasing the unique power of Non-Fungible tokens that allows creators and businesses to have full control over their own products. No matter the path or who follows which one, they all ultimately lead to a more decentralized system that allows for a more pure form of human growth and evolution.
Now personally, I see many benefits of mixing your Web3 professional experience with Cannabis. However as with anything Cannabis related, this is purely dependent on the individual. Two people could have the exact same dosage of the exact same product and have two completely different reactions. However if you know your own body and its limits, you can easily find where you land in order to use it in a productive manner. Sativa is known to be the more uplifting species of Cannabis, and goes great with a morning cup of coffee or tea for that initial jumpstart. Unlike caffeine however, it doesn’t make me jittery or give me headaches when I don't have it for a while. Those headaches you get when you don’t have caffeine for a while? That’s withdrawal symptoms my friend. Because caffeine is one of the most addictive legal components right next to sugar.
In the afternoon after staying up way too late and your mind is still running through everything, seemingly impossible to slow down since you worked so hard to get it started. This is where indica comes into play for me. When it’s time to shut the factory down and recharge but you still don’t want to, a nice indica can be the push you need to take that break. On the other side, this is the part that can become addictive. Rely too much on anything to wake up or fall asleep, that's a form of addiction too. But no difference really than coffee or melatonin.
Misconception towards cannabis is common. Here’s some marijuana fact or fiction by Brian Facts
Within writing this piece and musing on the audience that may come across it, I answered my own questions on how to create a sustainable Cannabis/Web3 community. Keep putting out interesting content that shows our unique perspective, powered by our goals and dreams. Don’t sink into the walls and do just enough to get by. Shout, make noise, make what you are doing known. Find what works for you personally, find those small things that help the daily experience, and keep building! As with everything in life, DYOR. I hope some of this at least piqued some interest to do that. Find what works for you personally, find those small things that help the daily experience, and keep building!
